Mystery guest and mystery diner inspections, by a former hotel general manager.

See what your guests actually experience, not what the standard says. An unannounced visit scored against your own SOPs, brand standards or quality criteria — with evidence, a ranked gap register and a debrief.

For hotel owners and general managers, restaurant owners, F&B leaders and management companies.

What gets inspected

The whole visit, as a guest lives it

Hotels — mystery guest

Booking or reservation call, arrival and check-in, the room and its condition, outlets and room service, requests and recovery, departure and billing.

Restaurants — mystery diner

Reservation and greeting, the service sequence and its timing, food and drink quality, what the team offers and suggests, cleanliness, the bill and the farewell.

What you receive

Evidence, not impressions

  1. A confidential scorecard against the criteria you choose — your SOPs, your brand standards or your quality audit.

  2. The evidence behind every score — timed notes, receipts and, where permitted, photographs.

  3. A ranked gap register — what to fix first, and what can wait.

  4. A debrief with the owner or general manager, so the findings turn into action rather than a filed report.

Questions from owners

Answered plainly

Will my team know about the visit?

The visit is unannounced. Before it, we agree in writing who is told and when — usually only the person who commissions it.

Can you use our brand's standards or audit criteria?

Yes — your SOPs, brand standards or quality audit criteria. If you have none written down, a standard set built from over thirty years in the tourism, travel and hotel industry is used.

What does it cost?

It is quoted in writing before the visit, and depends on the type of property, the number of visits and the travel involved.

Where do you work?

Ontario first, and elsewhere in Canada on request. For a remote read of revenue and guest scores together, see the revenue diagnostic.

See your hotel or restaurant the way a guest does.

Over thirty years in the tourism, travel and hotel industry, including general manager roles carrying the full P&L. Cornell General Managers Program. Based in Oakville, Ontario. The twenty-minute scope call is free and there is no obligation; you receive a written quote before any visit.
